A google employee did some UX research with us - and worked on this - https://github.com/dasher-project/dasher-design-guide/tree/main/ux-background its great but we have a lot of questions eg settings panels - and how these work. Bear in mind we are building on iOS, Windows, Linux and even on things like Apple Vision. We have a LOT of settings. Some work has been done to whittle this down. Before we get users testing new builds we want someone to lead our UX work with us to collect data and follow up with clients who are all around the world and help iterate the development. Its fun!

A not-for-profit social enterprise for local communities in south-east London, UK - owned and run by the therapists who work here.
Our website needs significant changes and some build fixing before we can properly launch and promote it.
This requires skills using PagesCMS, Github Repository, Cloudflare; with the following stack:
Static site generator -> Jekyll 4.4
Templating -> Liquid
Styling -> Vanilla CSS with custom properties
JavaScript -> Vanilla ES6 (accordion, nav, fade-in, forms)

Quire is a libadwaita PDF utility app to merge, organize, split and edit PDF metadata.
Currently it’s icon is very simple and generic, an icon that follows the Gnome HIG guidelines would be really appreciated, but we lack the design talent and capabilities to create it.
If they wish to, the logo designer can be added to the app’s credits.

Clarity is a project that was neglected by me. I want to create a new website and need a logo that will look good on a favicon and represent the Monoshape icon theme.
Preferably, the created logo would be under a Creative Commons license. CC-0, CC-BY, or CC-BY-SA (the last is used by the project).

Just need someone who could design the theme, UI and logos/icons for the project, they will have freedom over how they design it they will make some guidelines for themselves to make it consistent. I will code it myself and it will need alot of communication and time commitment as the vision is there but haven’t really shaped yet, so there will be a lot of fine tuning.

I have developed a functional F1 widget app that provides Driver and Constructor standings. I’ve used it personally for a year, and now I want to release it for free on the App Store and Google Play for the 2026 season.
The logic is complete and uses the Ergast-compatible Jolpica API. I am looking for a designer to create a modern, high-fidelity UI in Figma.
You can see the current state of the widgets here: https://imgur.com/a/htrvzLc I added the option to change the background color and transparency of the widgets so please take this into account

No To Big Tech is a decentralised, people-powered movement that aims to raise awareness and take action against Big Tech.
We would love help with the design of our homepage, and potentially other key pages.
Note that the website is powered by Osuny, which is a values-aligned CMS with a focus on low carbon design. We are limited with design features available but are happy with this platform and those constraints.

Logo design, Branding of a design or visual language that we can use to create our website
Compensation: gratis / minimal expenses
Hello and thank you for reading,
We are a south east London-based start up trying to get a website up and running as the next step in developing our project.
Our goal is to make therapy space more accessible to local therapists and in turn make therapy and better mental health support more accessible to minoritised local communities in the south-east London area.

Hello and thank you for reading,

We are a south east London-based start up trying to get a website up and running as the next step in developing our project.

Our goal is to make therapy space more accessible to local therapists and in turn make therapy and better mental health support more accessible to minoritised local communities in the south-east London area.

I am writing in the hope that you might be interested in supporting our project which needs logo and branding support. We are not particularly proficient with tech and design jargon but we try our best!

We have a range of ideas that we can forward that should help a lot to shape the logo design and the design language that we can use. However there is nothing we are ‘married to’ – we are very open to people’s creativity regarding our design and very grateful for any input offered.

Our project is yet to draw any start-up money or make any income, and the work of developing is only done on a voluntary basis. We are made up of 2 people, one of whom is risking financial hardship. Because of this we are trying where ever possible to keep our costs low via the generosity and support of fellow service cooperatives and social enterprises.

We have tried to raise funds but are now waylaid by a recruitment push due to the loss of one member following bereavements.

Want to make a children’s book?
The TUF project (a Linux Foundation project under the Cloud Native Computing Foundation) is used to secure a huge swatch of cloud systems, programming languages (Python, Rust), cars, the legal code in Washington DC, Baltimore, etc. Helping us here will help a critical part of the software infrastructure we all rely on.
One comment we’ve heard is that the concepts behind TUF are hard to learn. We really need something to make it easy to understand the system so that we don’t scare off people. We’d be happy to help you to understand TUF so you can make something fun and educational.

There is a history of making children’s books in the CNCF, using the project mascots. (For example, https://www.amazon.com/Phippys-AI-Friend-Workshop-Parents/dp/B0CWYF8JT6 ) Tai the TUF elephant is our mascot: https://www.cncf.io/phippy/ However, using Tai (and the rest of the Phippy and Friends characters) is not a requirement.

The activist community is actively developing the platform activist.org, a platform that enables more people to safely engage in activism by making it easy to discover organizations and events as well as coordinate and collaborate on political action. We want to enable activists to learn proven and novel strategies from each other for social and ecological change. Free, open-source, privacy-focused and governed by our community.
We’re looking for general design support for the development of the platform. The current Figma designs can be found via the following link:

Our main applications are an iOS and soon to be released Android application that has keyboards for second language learners with functionalities like translation, verb conjugation and noun annotation to learn genders. As a community we’re looking for design support to help us with the launch of our website at scri.be as well as designs for the applications that we work on. The current Figma designs can be found via the following link:

The goal would be to develop relationships with one or more designers so that we can collaborate as needed. The idea would be that we’d make a private Figma file and once designs are finished they’ll be moved over to the public one :)

Forgejo is a self-hosted platform for software development (version tracking and project management).
Dear design community, I’m looking for assistance for my role in the Forgejo user research team. Currently, I’m the only member of that team, and I publicly called for help with my roles recently, because I cannot keep up with the work on my own.
So far, my work consisted of doing user research and user testing via live interviews as well as creating surveys, to learn more about the usage of Forgejo and similar platforms. The results have been recorded in a dedicated repository. The information is then used to influence design of new features and classify feature requests based on their expected value.

Organization: PySeas (soon to be PyCeas) Status: Searching Date Posted: January 26, 2025 Tagged as: Logo, Branding, Pixel Art
Hey all, I’m rewriting this post because the game design document wasn’t working properly.
Something also came up with the new project name - it’s going to be slightly different! The current project name PySeas will officially change to PyCeas. This clever nod to Pisces, the zodiac sign of the fish, connects the sea to the stars, symbolizing both adventure and mystery. The alternate spelling makes it unique while keeping its pronunciation and meaning intact. (Fun fact: It’s also my constellation!) My brother came up with the name.

Our project aims to create a pirate themed 2D, topdown, turn based boardgame in Pygame.
The new project name with the most votes by our community is Pyces. So I think that could become our new project’s name.

I need a design for a tecnical finished eBook-Reader app. That means the layout is done, but the colors and shapes of the elements are horrible. a new app-icon would be also cool.
I have Screenshots of every screen, fonts and icons, a working demo-app, and of course demo-files.
About the Project: Its an open-source project for a new file-format specially for manga and comic ebooks. The app itselve ist NOT open source, but free to use without adds or collectig data, coz I couldn’t find a license which forbids comercial usage

Paul from mentalhealthrevolution.org has has developed the Daily Wellness Empowerment Program (DWEP) course. This has further been developed into an app with the help of a programmer (Tord) https://dwep-app.gitlab.io/
The DWEP app has 10 different practices, and we’d like to have SVG icons/graphics for each of these, possibly with a short animation of the SVG when pressing “done” for the practice
Also we’d like to have SVG files for the states that each practice can be in: Done, Undetermined

We are building an open localization platform that embraces ideas and principles from GitHub’s social approach to coding. We’d like to design a platform that empowers translators, and tears downs the walls that the localization industry has built over the years. We believe most of the internet remains inaccessible due to linguistic barriers, and we want to contribute to change that.

Tuist is an organization that builds a toolchain to empower organizations to build better apps faster. As part of that, we develop MIT-licensed technologies that need a design for their website and brand, so we are looking for people interested in helping with that.
AntennaPod is a well-known open-source app for Android to subscribe and listen to podcasts. The podcast space is innovating, and we want to add a whole bunch of functionalities. Many of these features need to be made accessible from the player screen. We need to find a way to do that, while keeping the screen clean and user friendly.
What we’ll work on updating/integrating specifically:
New: Way to open transcript New: Speaker image + name (based on transcript) New: Way to open podcast comments (ActivityPub replies) + ideally an indicator of number of comments (to encourage to look) New: Display of current chapter title Adapt: Way to access shownotes & chapters Adapt: Chapter navigation Adapt: Sleep timer button New: Sleep timer remaining time indication To consider for the future: bookmark timestamp; value4value streaming & boost (payment functionality) We would love to get a small group (2-3) of experienced UX/UI designers to help us redefine the player screen. We expect this exercise to take about 6 months (about 2 hours per week on average: 1 hour work, 1 hour meeting). AntennaPod core team members will be heavily involved (you’re not left to your own devices).

This is a cross-platform desktop app for developers and manual testers to test server APIs easily. The work needed is to let the app looks user friendly, attractive and helpful without the need of a user manual.
It is better to discuss and start from one or two pages before working for the whole app, so that expectations could be aligned.

InvenTree is an open-source PLM (parts libary managment) with a backend API server, a frontend based on Bootstrap/jquery /JS-based frontend and several apps. We are rewriting the frontend based on React and want to take this opportunity to create a more user-friendly, intuitive and accessible experience for everyone.
Major pain points are:
Navigation between pages Information-dense but readable tables Introducing users to functions, communicating restrictions and possible actions The credentials for the demo can be found here: https://inventree.org/demo, the current state of the new UI is accessible here

A designer already did some groundwork and we have some great mockups (figma) available, he had to reallocate his free time. We have coders on the team so getting designs/behaviours built once they are conceptualised should not be a problem - you do not need to know how to code.

But it’s ugly and a little harder to read than necessary. Sure could use a light design pass from somebody with good taste.

I am looking for someone to join my team, i am software developer and at my day job i lead a small team of people, in my spare time i am always trying to contribute to society by creating free software that benefits the people and not the companies around the world.
There are no time commitments, we work whenever we have time and the only requirement that i have is someone that shares my passion to make the world a better

There are no time commitments, we work whenever we have time and the only requirement that i have is someone that shares my passion to make the world a better

The ideal person for the job would be someone that is well versed with UI/UX, Branding and any design software of your own choice. Since this is not a paid position i am open to people with any type of experience, we are all together in this journey to grow.

Currently, i have two software projects that i am planning to finish this year. Let me tell you more a bout the first one that would be quicker.

The name is KeyFortress and it’s a new authentication application, with support for end to end encryption, and built in protocol for passwordess authentication, it might be a bit early for the adoption on the market, but being first is never a bad thing.

You can read a bit more on the protocol here:
https://owasp.org/www-pdf-archive/PLA_OWASP_APPSEC_APAC-2012_Conference_V1.2.9.

I have a working version of the application already, and i plan to release it for Windows, Linux, MacOS, IOS, and Android. So i am looking for a partner that is here for the long run, and i do hope that in the process we manage to establish something bigger together.

Currently only IOS and Android have an MVP, but probably the end of the month there will be MVPs for the 3 desktops as well.

The tech stack that i currently use for those that are interested is:

Flutter/Dart - for both the Desktop and Mobile applications
HTMX,Express, Blazor for all web based consumers (Couple of example web pages so we can demonstrate how the login works)
A .Net core API that all of the Web pages use to authenticate against

I am also looking for other roles, so if you want to contribute but don’t find yourself fitting these requirements, hit me up, we will figure something out.

How to Apply:

Kristifor Milchev <kristiformilchev@outlook.com>

https://github.com/KristiforMilchev/KeyFortress

Read more on opensourcedesign.net →

Jenkins is an open source automation server, it is used by millions of users around the world. A few months ago we started the monthly Jenkins Newsletter. We don’t have access to a design team and as you can see our newsletter headline design is quite generic and boring. Oleg Nenashev suggested that we reach out to you for your contribution to our newsletter design.
Our newsletter is published via a blog, so we only need the headline design. No template is needed.

This design is needed for end of year recap newsletter which we hope to publish the first week of Jan 2023. So we would like this design to be different (special) from a design that we would use for the rest of the year

If at all possible we will need another design that we could use from Feb - Dec 2023.

UltraStar Play took on the legacy of a popular singing game from the last decade. The gameplay has aged well but visually there is room for improvement.
Find the game on GitHub (MIT license) The game is created with the Unity game engine. The Unity “UI Toolkit” uses style sheets (subset of CSS), and XML layout (similar to HTML).
From color palettes, over visual effects and graphic assets, to a more thought-out UI, contributions are welcome.

Schrödinger Hat is an open-source community. Our mission is to share the love for open-source!
We are a community of volunteers, so we need someone who can help us by leading the design of the community.
We are seeking help with the design of the social media as we are organizing events, podcasts, and many other things so we must produce different social messages.
It would be nice to have some skills in designing logos. as we may create new projects within the community

The aim of openW2G is to enable two users to sync any kind of streaming service playback by simply sharing a room code similar to how w2g.tv works. openW2G is an ad-free open-source MIT-licensed browser extension that syncs users’ clicks in their browser. I’m looking for the extension icon/logo that will be used in the browser. If you have also experience in UI and web design feel free to send your ideas!
